MY STORY
I’ve been building businesses since the late ’90s.
My background is in IT, but tech was really just the entry point. What has always driven me is people. Real people. Small business owners who pour everything they have into what they do. The ones who lose sleep over payroll, wear way too many hats, and still get up and do it all again the next day.
That’s who I built this for.
Over the years, I studied business, design, strategy, SEO, social media, paid advertising, PR, content, and pretty much anything else I could get my hands on. Not because I needed another certificate hanging on a wall, but because when somebody trusts me with their business, I take that seriously.
In 2019, Shelley’s Social Media officially became an LLC, and what started as one woman helping businesses navigate social media grew into something much bigger. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with more than 1,500 businesses across the country.
And somewhere along the way, I realized something.
We had outgrown our name.
What we were doing wasn’t just social media anymore. We were telling stories. Creating content. Building collaborations. Working with communities. Handling PR. Showing up at events. Getting behind the camera, in front of the camera, and sometimes right in the middle of whatever was happening.
So Shelley’s Social Media became The Shelley Experience.
But the reason behind it hasn’t changed.
This has never been just marketing to me.
It’s personal.
I’ve walked beside clients through launches, breakdowns, wins, losses, and everything in between. I’ve stayed up late fixing messes someone else left behind. I’ve cried over success stories, celebrated when one opportunity changed everything, and fought like hell to make sure small businesses don’t get drowned out by the companies with the biggest budgets.
I care way too much to half-ass this.
I’m still not the slick agency with the fancy buzzwords and cookie-cutter plans. I’d rather sit down with you, figure out what the hell is actually going on, tell you the truth, and find a way to make people pay attention.
Because after all these years, I still believe in the little guy.
The name changed. The company evolved. But that part of me never did.
