Best times to post on Social Media

Updated March 16th, 2020 using data from Sprout Social's latest version of its best times to post report, which highlights the optimal times of day to post to the major social platforms in order to maximize engagement.

Social media marketing has the ability to deliver impressive results for business owners. However, posting on your social media networks once in a while will not put you in a position to provide the results that you expect. Instead, you need to ensure constant visibility throughout your social media marketing campaigns across different channels. We have tips for you below.

Posting on social media in 2020 is a little different then it used to be. The algorithm has changed and you have to work a little harder for your content to be shown. Engaging with your audience and posting relevant information is more important than ever.

How and when to post on social media networks?

Want to know when and how to post on social media? The key is that if you can target at the right time, you will have amazing results.

Facebook – publish around 1-2 posts per week. 1 pm to 4 pm is the best time of the day to publish the posts. Posting suggestions have changed from 1 a day. Facebook keeps changing how it shows your content. It now wants quality content, not quantity. However, to engage in others' posts is the key here. Be sure to comment and like other posts and share them with your feed - we suggest five a day. Otherwise, your likes and comments will drop, and you will not be able to receive the best engagement from users. *2020-Update- The absolute best time to post is Wednesday between 11 am and 12 pm and Sunday is the worst.

Twitter – Start with about 5-20 Tweets per day. Tweeting frequency should be tied to your goals. We suggest that you target the tweets from 8 m to 4 pm on weekdays. The worst days are Saturday and Sunday. Twitter is about retweeting other posts; we suggest at least ten times a day. *2020-Update- Wednesday and Friday at 9 am is the busiest time and the two best days. Saturday is the worst, not Sunday.

Pinterest – Best Day: Saturday Best Time of Day: 8-11 pm In general, the best times to pin are late at night and on the weekends. So this can bet the time you start pinning your pins or scheduling your pins.

LinkedIn – The best times to post to LinkedIn are Wednesday from 10 am to 9 am and at noon. We recommend posting on Wednesday for the best day. The most consistent engagement is between Tuesday and Friday, from 8 am to 2 pm. *2020-Update- Wednesday and Thursday are the best days and Sunday the worst.

Instagram – The best times to post are Wednesday at 11 am, and Friday at 10-11 am. Wednesday is the best day to post on this platform. Most consistent engagement is Tuesday through Friday from 10 am - 3 pm. The worst day is Sunday because it receives the least amount of engagement. If you stick to these schedules, you will be able to receive amazing results from your social media marketing campaigns. *2020 Update- Nothing has changed!
